Savory cake for Valentine’s Day
I usually make a sweet cake for Valentine’s Day, but this time having bought the sweet cake I said: I’ll make a savory cake 😊
Ingredients:
-1 rectangular puff pastry
-2 eggs
-1 egg yolk
-cooked vegetables, or peas are also good (I steamed the chard)
-250g(8.82 oz) of diced cooked ham
-100g(3.52 oz) of cooking cream
-150g(5.29 oz) of ricotta
-salt and pepper
-poppy seeds
Preparation:
1) If you don’t want to use peas and have vegetables to cook, first of all steam the chard…in my case.
2) Unroll the shortcrust pastry and turn the heart-shaped mold upside down. Cut the pastry around the shape leaving a little margin as deep as the shape.
3) Apply pressure with the handle of a knife to make the puff pastry stick to the mold. Prick the bottom with the tines of a fork.
4) Cut off the excess paper. With the leftover dough around the heart shape, cut out some little hearts and then place them as decorations on top of the cake.
5) Place the cooked ham, ricotta and eggs in a bowl. Jumbled up.
6) Add the cooking cream to the bowl, then add the cooked and chopped chard. Add salt and pepper. Mix everything well.
7) Place all the dough in the heart-shaped mold. Level well with the back of a fork or spoon.
8) Place the small hearts cut out of the remaining shortcrust pastry on top of the large heart. Brush the egg yolk over the hearts, then cover the hearts with the poppy seeds.
9) Bake at 190°C for 35/40 minutes. The heart-shaped savory cake is ready!
Happy Saint Valentine’s!!
