The surprise of quick appetizer with puff pastry

I found myself in an unexpected situation…to make an appetizer before going out for dinner. Luckily I had 2 round puff pastries in the fridge (there’s no shortage of puff pastry in my fridge lately), so I took the 2 round puff pastries out of the fridge and let my imagination run wild 🙂 … (which I don’t mind. :-). I unrolled both shortcrust pastries and spread some tomato puree on one of them, then added some slices of cheese on top.

On the pastry with the sliced cheese I added some cooked ham and on the tall pastry I spread a little gorgonzola cheese, after which I rested the latter on top of the other.

I placed an empty cup upside down to give an impression, then around the cup I cut out some segments with a pizza cutter, I placed an egg yolk in the center and around it to stop it I placed some slices of raw ham and a few cut olives, then I spread it all around with an egg yolk mixed with a little milk. To do something nice I sprinkled some poppy seeds alternating the segments. I baked for 20 minutes on medium heat…and it turned out wonderfully delicious. You know what happened…we finished my savory pie and didn’t go out for dinner…how satisfying!!
